Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), provides secure, durable, highly-scalable object storage that allows you to pay only for the storage you actually use. Integrating Amazon S3 with your Formstack form will allow for uploaded files to be sent directly from a form submissions to your Amazon S3 account!

To integrate Amazon S3 with your form, go to the Settings > Integration > Documents tab and click add next to Amazon Web Services. Additionally, you can use the Search Bar to easily find it.

Next, enter your Key and Secret or click to copy authentication credentials from a form that already has Amazon S3 integrated.

To locate credentials for your account, go the Amazon S3 service page. Then My Account> Security Credentials. Scroll to the “Access Credentials” section. Your access key is listed under “Access Key ID”. Click the “Show” link under “Secret Access Key ID” to show your secret key.

After that, you need to choose a Bucket for the files. In order to use this integration, the specified user will need to have access to Buckets.

In the integration settings, optionally add a file prefix to provide a unique name to each file uploaded. You can also select which folder you'd like your files to be saved and can optionally choose to set a subfolder path.

Finally, add an email address to send a notice to upon failure of the integration (optional).

Once you have your settings and all the required fields mapped, switch the integration to "ON" via the switch in the top right corner of the integration settings. If you leave the switch "OFF", the integration will be inactive and will not run.

Tips:

  • In general, you are able to upload a maximum of 25MB of data per form.
  • You can bypass our storage limit when you integrate Amazon S3 because the files are stored in that app, not Formstack, with an access link still available in each submission.  The file transfer limit of 25MB will still apply when uploading a file to Amazon S3.
  • The intended functionality of the Amazon S3 integration is that uploaded files (via the File Upload field on your form) are sent to Amazon S3 upon submission, not the actual submitted form data - that is stored in your Formstack database.
