Formstack Forms automatically scans files uploaded through forms to help protect against potentially malicious content.
How Does Virus Scanning Work?
Formstack Forms uses an antivirus scanning solution, to check files uploaded through File Upload fields.
When a user uploads a file, Formstack scans it for potential viruses or malicious content before the file is stored as part of the submission.
If a file is identified as potentially infected, it is removed from the submission and is not stored or passed to connected integrations, such as Salesforce.
What Happens If a Virus Is Detected?
If an uploaded file is flagged as potentially malicious:
- The file is rejected and removed from the submission.
- The file is not included in the submission's stored data.
- The file is not forwarded to connected integrations.
- The submitter may receive an error message indicating that the file appears to be infected and should be scanned before attempting another upload.
Users should scan the affected file using their own antivirus software before attempting to upload it again.
Does Virus Scanning Guarantee File Security?
While Formstack automatically scans uploaded files, virus scanning does not guarantee that every malicious file will be detected.
The scanning process is designed to help protect Formstack's systems and reduce the risk of malicious files being stored or distributed.
We recommend that organizations maintain their own security practices, including using antivirus software to scan downloaded files, especially when handling sensitive information.
