The PayPal (Connected Path) integration allows you to collect payments directly through Formstack Forms using your PayPal PPCP merchant account. This integration supports both one-time payments and subscription-based transactions, and offers a secure, modern checkout experience.
Important: The PayPal (Connected Path) integration is currently in beta and available only upon request. Please contact Formstack Support to have it enabled for your account.
This integration is different from Formstack’s existing PayPal options and requires a PayPal PPCP merchant account.

How to Set Up the PayPal (Connected Path) Integration
Follow the steps below to connect your PayPal PPCP account and configure payment options for your form.
1. Navigate to Form Settings → Integrations
Open your form, go to Settings, and click Integrations from the left navigation menu.
2. Search for PayPal (Connected Path)
Locate PayPal (Connected Path) in the integration directory and select it.
3. Choose Your Integration Status
After adding the integration, you’ll see three status options:
- On – Form submission data is sent to PayPal in live production mode
- Off – No payment data is sent to PayPal
4. Log In to Your PayPal Account
Click Connect and log in to your PayPal PPCP (Connected Path) account to grant Formstack permission to process transactions.
Tip: If you have already authenticated PayPal on another form, you can reuse that connection by copying the credentials from your other form.
5. Configure Transaction Information
After connecting your account, two new configuration sections will appear.
Transaction Type
Choose the type of transaction you want to process:
- Payments – For single-item or multiple-item purchases
- Subscription – For recurring billing cycles
Each transaction type displays different configuration fields.
Payment Transactions (One-Time Purchases)
For single or multi-item payments:
- Map your Price field
- Map your Quantity field (if needed)
- Optionally add shipping or handling fees
- Select your currency
Subscription Transactions (Recurring Payments)
For recurring billing:
- Select your Billing Cycle
- Choose Recurring Times / Frequency
- Map the field determining the subscription amount
- Select your currency
Map Customer Information
Under Customer Information, map the corresponding Formstack fields to PayPal fields such as:
- Name
- Address
- Phone
This helps PayPal complete the transaction with required user details.
How the Integration Works for Form Submitters
After the integration is configured and active:
- A user fills out your form.
- Upon submitting, they will be prompted to log in to PayPal to complete their payment or have the option to pay with Debit or Credit Card.
- After payment is authorized, the submission is finalized and recorded in Formstack, and the payment details are sent to PayPal.
This creates a smooth, secure checkout experience without requiring users to manually enter payment details on the form.
